LAPP VFD Product Suggestions Based on Motor Voltage, HP, and Full Load Current
Note 1: 75°C ampacity column is referenced to avoid potential safety hazards that can occur when the maximum allowable temperature ratings of equipment and other non-cable components have been exceeded, see applicable NEC table under article 310 for more details. Per NEC article 430, 125% FLC has been taken into account for the above LAPP cable suggestions. Per NEC, the currents listed are applicable for system voltage ranges of 220 to 240, 440 to 480, and 550 to 600 volts. Note 2: The NEC recommends 14 AWG and larger conductors for small motors, see article 430. The use of 16 and 18 AWG may be acceptable depending upon compliance with applicable sections of the above NEC article and equipment manufacturers instructions (NFPA 79). Note 3: The above cable recommendations are provided for reference purposes only. This information is based on LAPP’s interpretation of applicable sections of the National Electrical Code (NEC) & NFPA 79.
